About Julie Dant
All my photographs on FAA are copyright protected and may not be reproduced, copied, or used for any purpose without my express consent. Hello! My name is Julie Riker Dant and I live in the small town of Washington, in southwestern Indiana, in the United States. In the mid to late 90's, I began searching out and documenting with black and white photographs, old abandoned houses all over Indiana, the Midwest, Southeast and Deep South, with the intention of publishing a pictorial book one day. The book has not come to pass as of yet, however I have produced a video in which all of my Indiana houses are featured accompanied by beautiful Celtic music. It is entitled SOLEMN RELICS. Haven't heard of this particular town, but wondering if it's the same flood my mother speaks of when she was a child (she was born in '32). The flood she speaks of was the Ohio River coming over the levee at Uniontown, KY (she lived in Morganfield). I'll have to ask her to verify the flood year. Nice work on the image!
Julie Dant replied:
Hey Greg! Your mother would have been five when the catastrophic flood happened, so it seems likely she'd have some memory of it. I'd love to listen to her stories about it sometime! Thanks for your interest. Leavenworth is south of Corydon, IN. I love to travel the River road. I've meandered around Morganfield a couple of times in search of abandoned houses. Found one huge 2 story clapboard relic back in the early 90's that had been built by a man who they said owned thousands of acres surrounding it in the 1800s. The person who told me that didn't know anything else..not even a name. ;0( It's probably gone now, and sadly, I did not write down the name of the road I was on. ;0( Lovely country there-abouts, though! ;0)
