Description
While visiting an old log cabin settlement which has been preserved, this inviting scene presented itself to me. It reminded me strongly of my great grandparents who used to sit in front of the "grate", as she called the fireplace, settled into their rocking chairs, where he would smoke his pipe and blow the smoke out of the side of his mouth every once in awhile...and she would raise her head and turn head slightly towards him, and breathe in the second-hand smoke with her eyes closed. I can see it clearly to this day, the peaceful look on both of their faces. Contentment. At that time, they'd been married for over 60 years.

Julie, I really like this old rustic shot. Makes me want to kick my feet up and take a seat on that porch. Great image. Voted.
Julie Dant replied:
Hey Jeff! Thanks for your fine comments! That's always the way I feel with these old rustic shots! ;0)

This image reminds me of my Grandparents on their back porch. I am drawn to this shot for much the same reason that you took it. Great composition, tone and texture. Thanks for sharing. Fav,
Julie Dant replied:
Yes. I am also drawn to it because it reminds me of my great Grandparent's back porch. All my nostalgic work stems from my childhood visits to their old farm. The house was exactly as it would have been in the first decade of the 20th century. The only modern convenience was electricity. All other things were done as the pioneers did them. I feel sooo fortunate to have been able to experience it! ;0) Thank you !
